Fix for Atheros Ar 8162 In Ubuntu 12.04

To fix the Network problem of Ubuntu 12.04 with Dell Inspiron 12.04 (with Network card Atheros ar8162)
Try the following

1)      Download  compat-wireless-2012-02-28-p.tar.bz2 from here 
                   (download the exact file from the list)
2)      Copy the downloaded file to your home
3)      Then open the Terminal (Ctrl +alt+t) and run the following Commands one by one

    When I enter the first command it says, "Cannot open: No such file or directory tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

    This is my 3rd day on Ubuntu, so I'm pretty green. Any help? Thanks.

    Never mind. The first commands gives an error message, but I proceeded with the following commands anyway and everything worked out fine. You, sir, are a genius!

    try jockey-gtk as root in terminel and from the opening window you can select the other proprietary drivers for wireless,Bluetooth,GP etc select the driver and enable the driver.Only works in ubuntu

    Hi I when I ran the 'make' command, there is error saying 'gcc: comand not found'.What might be the reason? I have gcc and build essential installed in my ubuntu 12.04 64bit. Thanks in advance.

      Update the os into version 13.04.Ubuntu 13.04 already included driver for network card and wireless.

      Ubuntu fixed this problem in the latest version 14.04.Try to upgrade into that
